Groups allow children to learn and develop skills by working alongside their peers in a safe and therapist facilitated environment.

WHY GROUPS?

Through regular coaching in groups we can build skills in children.

  • Groups help children learn appropriate social, emotional and daily life skills by observing their peers
  • Enables children to form bonds in a structured environment, with reduced risk of inappropriate negative interactions (teasing, ridicule).
  • Learning happens in a structured and closely facilitated environment, with pre-determined goals
  • Enables carryover and generalization of skills to the real world

Therefore, we run regular groups for children throughout the week. Each group is designed keeping in mind the children’s age and ability profile.

Each group is held for 45 minutes to an hour and uses child-friendly media including play, art, drama, and sensory activities to meet pre-determined therapeutic goals. Regular documented feedback to parents is part of this process.

We currently have several groups that run on various days targetting different social, emotional and sensorimotor goals

The groups that we run currently at Children first aim towards working on the following goals.

CLASSROOM READINESS
SENSORY REGULATION
SOCIAL SKILLS AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL GOALS
EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
MOTOR PLANNING
GRAPHOMOTOR SKILLS
